About Us
Coit Pet Salon opened in 1998 under different owners. The owners at the time decided that after owning the salon, that West Plano needed a more convenient boarding facility. They opened Plano's 4 Paws Inn in January 2002 across the street from Coit Pet Salon. In May 2002, the salon was combined with the kennel at the kennel location.
On December 31, 2002, my husband Rob and I purchased Plano's 4 Paws Inn/Coit Pet Salon. We had just sold our previous business (Crown Trophy) in Plano, and were ready to venture into something completely different.
We chose the pet business, mainly because we LOVE animals. I truly care for the dogs that are staying at our kennel while their owners are away. My goal is to make sure every dog's tail is wagging. If there is a dog who appears scared or timid, I will hold and hug that puppy (if not too big) or do whatever it takes, until I can see that he/she is feeling more comfortable. We will also communicate to you how your pet's boarding experience was. I really feel that we give the best personalized care for your pet, and I have some VERY good people working to help me accomplish my goals. I also feel that play and socialization time is very important for your pets. I personally do not like seeing dogs having to stay in their runs all day long, therefore every dog gets their play time as well as outside time. As I see other kennels charge extra money for play time or walks, we DO NOT. Play time is VERY important!.
A little about us personally... We have lived in Plano for over 15 years now. We have a 21 year old son and a 14 year old daughter who both help out at the kennel when they're not in school. My husband Rob, is a Senior Software Engineer at Computer Associates, and I am a Registered Nurse who is having a lot more fun just hangin' full-time with the dogs these days!
Meet Donna - the owner
Here I am at home with only 3 dogs of our “pack”. I don’t bring my own dogs to work with me, because (as the picture shows) they require 100% of my attention. They get a bit jealous if they see me with ‘another dog’. I love dogs and enjoy taking care of them and watching them play...it’s as simple as that. Of course it takes a little more than that to run this business. I worked very hard at turning Plano’s 4 Paws Inn around from what it was when we purchased it. We have grown mainly from word-of-mouth rather than high priced marketing tactics. I think a positive word-of-mouth tells a lot about a business. In fact, at the time of adding this bit to our website, I know that we have over 2000 returning grooming customers. I know that there are thousands of boarding customers also. I just don’t know the exact amount, but I do know I need another filing cabinet. I also have NO plans to open multiple Plano’s 4 Paws Inns, because I like to be hands-on involved with you pets, and there is only one of me. I’m not out for the big bucks, thankfully my husband has a good job. I just want your dogs to be taken care of properly, and I want them to be happy and healthy and return them to you the same way. Our prices are reasonable when compared with other grooming/boarding businesses. I invite you to come by and check us out anytime...during business hours of course.
